Easter Rising

Unhappy with the support for Britain in the war, and frustrated with the failure to implement Home Rule after 1912, Irish Volunteer Forces staged a rebellion in Dublin on Easter Monday in 1916.

The aim of the uprising was to end British Rule in Ireland and initiate an independent Ireland as a republic.
