THE ROYAL BRITISH LEGION

The Royal British Legion – say “Thank You” to the First World War Generation

We are pleased to be in partnership with Never Such Innocence to encourage young people from across the UK to mark the final year of the First World War Centenary in 2018.

Our Thank You campaign will bring together four years of remembering the 100th anniversary of the First World War, which ended on 11 November 1918. We’re offering children and young people the chance to learn more about the contribution of people from all walks of life, whether they served on the battlefield or the home front. This is a chance to reflect on the wider contribution of servicemen and women, nurses, sailors, farm workers, poets and musicians from all nations and to say “Thank You” through poetry, music and art.

We are calling on a new generation to reflect on what the centenary signifies by joining our campaign to say, ‘Thank You’ to the First World War generation for their experience and example which inspires us still – a generation which gave so much for the way of life we enjoy today. We’ll be working with schools and youth groups to bring the best of these ‘Thank You’ messages to the widest possible audience.

Competition entries inspired by the theme of Thank You could even feature in the Legion’s Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall in 2018, in the presence of Her Majesty The Queen.
