2017-18 Roadshow

The 2017/18 Roadshow will be the biggest and best yet. As we begin The Final Push, we are keen to ensure our fourth and final year is the widest reaching and most inclusive. We will be visiting more communities than ever before to engage children and young people with the centenary of the First World War.

Our roadshow will travel across the British Isles visiting prestigious venues at which local school children and teachers can learn more about how to get involved with our competition. Our partner, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, will join us at every location to highlight local Commonwealth war graves and encourage schools to visit them to inspire their competition entries. We will also be joined by local dignitaries, politicians, representatives of the Armed Forces, cadets, representatives from educational bodies and groups, and local/regional press.

During the presentation children will be invited to read poems they have penned themselves, or previous winning poems. Schools also have the opportunity of having our Artist in Residence, Marty Longstaff, visit their school ahead of the event to hold a song writing workshop. This song can then be performed at the roadshow and will automatically be submitted to Songs of the Centenary
